Procession of the Species Parade

This is a fabulous event.  The 18th annual Procession of the Species Parade.  It was the most relaxed large organized gathering I have seen in a while.  Just people gathering by the library, and then walking through the middle of downtown and then partying in the park.  Anyone could participate, and there is only 3 rules:

The three rules inspire, nourish, and protect the Procession’s cultural evolution of imagination, creation, and sharing.

No written or spoken words. We use no words, symbols or lyrics in our art, music or dance.

No pets or live animals. We have no live animals in the Procession, with the exception of Service Animals.

No motorized vehicles. We do not motorize our creations which includes the use of musical amplification. Of course, a motorized wheelchair is certainly permitted.

My son, Jackson was technically representing a species of transformable sentient living robots from Cybertron, (Optimus Prime,) but was still encouraged to participate!

To see them all and/or order cheap prints; click on my CLIENT PROOFING link above.

Enjoy!

Post a comment for cool costume ideas for next year!

  • Lynn Di NinoDear Adam, I was invited to share a slideshow/talk at Bellevue Arts Museum on Dec 16th and have decided to do a show called ‘Wearable Art as Kinetic Sculpture’. My nickname for the show is ‘sculpture on legs’. This picture of yours would add interest to my theme: ANP 10. As a volunteer with no budget I am unable to pay you for use of the picture but we will have a printed program and will be giving credit to artists and photographers. I would need it in high resolution (1280 pixels per longest side) and would welcome any other pics you have in this vein that you might want to loan me: high quality wearable art that is outrageous. . . also, of course these pix stay in the show and I will not be using them elsewhere. . . thanks, Lynn Di Nino: lynndin@msn.com
